Abbotsford, BC…..The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades men’s soccer midfielder Justin Sekhon and women’s soccer forward Tristan Corneil are the UFV Cascades/Abbotsford Heat Athletes of the week, for the week ending on Sunday, September 22nd, 2013.
Sekhon, a second year Business major from Abbotsford, BC scored twice and set up the winning goal in UFV’s critical 4-2 victory over the TWU Spartans on Sunday, in Abbotsford, BC. Sekhon not only played well on offense, but controlled the middle of the pitch all afternoon shutting down the powerful Spartan offense from getting into gear. The Cascades are 3-3-0 for 9 points, five better than 4th place UNBC Timberwolves in the Pacific Division of Canada West.

Corneil, a second year Kinesiology major from Surrey, BC set up the first two goals in UFV’s 3-0 victory over the Mount Royal Cougars, in Calgary, Alberta, this past Sunday. Corneil was named “player of the “match” for her excellent two-way play keeping the Cougar defenders from being part of any offensive rush while setting up the Cascade forwards with numerous offensive opportunities.
