Arturo Ortiz, Veracruz, Mexico,  was denied the shutout with only 5 minutes as the Mariners scored off a throw-in. “A very workmanlike performance from a young UFV team today. We rested some of our senior players to have a look at the rookies and they came thru with flying colors,” commented UFV head coach Alan Errington.   “Great performances from Sahib Phagura, a second year defender from Abbotsford, BC and Connor MacMillan, a second year midfielder from Chilliwack, BC.”

Sunday, August 25th

The Cascades continued their winning ways with a convincing 1-0 over Willamette University Bearcats today in Salem Oregon.  MacMillan scored with a volley into the top corner from 18 yards after a corner from Connor O’Neill.  Mark Village, Abbotsford, BC, recorded several saves to secure the shutout victory over the Bearcats.

“A convincing win with a professional performance. I think the score flattered the opposition with all due respect. Solid performances from all players, but the back four have to be singled out for their flawless performance,” said Errington.
