Chilliwack, BC…The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades men’s and women’s soccer teams will call Exhibition Field in Chilliwack, BC home for a second straight Canada West regular season.  The Cascades entering their eighth CIS regular season will again compete for a post season berth in both men’s and women’s soccer this coming fall.  The men will play in the Pacific Division against UBC, UNBC, Victoria and TWU, the top three teams advance to the Canada West post season tournament.  There are 11 men’s soccer teams five in the Pacific and six in Prairie division.  The Pacific division teams play each BC school twice and each Prairie division team once for a 14 match schedule.

The Cascades men’s soccer team have seven home games highlighted by Saturday, September 28 Alumni Night and Friday, October 4th Adidas Night.  “We were close to earning a post season berth last fall, with the majority of our squad back we have the talent to compete for a post season match this year,” said UFV head coach Alan Errington.

The Cascades women’s team competes in Canada West’s 13 team conference with each school playing 12 regular season matches, one against each school in the conference.  The top eight schools earn a berth in the Canada West post season tournament.  Last year UFV finished 6-5-1 for 19 points and seventh place in the standings.  The Cascades have earned a post season berth in two of the past three years, including winning the 2010 conference title.

The women’s team have five home matches this fall, at Exhibition Field, in Chilliwack, highlighted by Friday, October 4th Adidas Night, the only home doubleheader of the year with the men’s program.   ”We are looking forward to once again playing our home games in Chilliwack this season. Securing points in our home games will be vital for our team this year and we hope the community can get behind us as we look to challenge for a Canada West championship,” commented UFV head coach Rob Giesbrecht.
