Abbotsford, BC….The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades men’s soccer team will host a fundraiser on Friday, August 9th at the Phoenix Lounge (33780 King Road) to raise funds for the team’s upcoming regular season, which includes an August exhibition trip to the state of Oregon. The Cascades are entering their 8th regular season as members of Canada West and the CIS.
‘I am looking forward to the regular season next fall; our future is so bright with 17 players returning. With the nucleus of the team winning the Pakenham Cup and Soccer City Cup the team’s confidence is growing with each match they participate in,” said UFV head coach Alan Errington.
The men’s soccer team re wrote the school record books, in 2012, with a 5-5-4 record for 19 team points, the Cascades missed their first Canada West post season by one point and posted their first CIS winning record since joining the league seven years ago. Mark Village, Abbotsford, BC was selected to the Canada West second all-star team and Justin Sekhon, Abbotsford, BC became the school’s third straight men’s soccer player to be selected the Cascades male rookie of the year.
