Abbotsford, BC….The UFV Cascades men’s soccer team played a large part in local club Abbotsford Magnuson Ford United winning the 2013 Pakenham Cup, 3-0, over Port Moody Gunners in the cup’s final at South Surrey Athletic Park. There were 10 members of the current men’s soccer team on Magnuson Ford United led by second team Canada West all-star goalkeeper, Mark Village and all three Cascades named the school’s male rookie of the year over the past three seasons, Colton O’Neill, Ravi Singh and Justin Sekhon.
This is the first time the Abbotsford soccer club has won the cup since 1995. Connor O’Neill, a third year midfielder, was selected as the man of the match by the cup committee and victory earned the club a spot in the provincial cup tournament starting mid-April, 2013. The Pakenham Cup is one of Canada’s oldest amateur competitions dating back to 1909.
