Kevon Parchment named Canada West Male Athlete of the Week

Abbotsford, BC…Kevon Parchment, men’s basketball has been named the Canada West male athlete of the week, for the week ending Sunday, December 2nd, 2012.  

 

Kevon Parchment, Toronto, Ontario led the UFV Cascades men’s basketball team to two road victories this past weekend, in the Prairies.  The Cascades defeated Brandon on Friday, 81-61, and Regina, on Saturday, 82-68, to improve to 7-3 in the Pacific Division of Canada West, one game behind UBC, 8-2, at the break.  Parchment led the number sixth ranked team, in the CIS top ten poll, with 38 points, including a game high 23 against Regina on Saturday, 16 total rebounds which led UFV both nights and considering, the second year Kinesiology major is 6-3, he blocked three shots over the weekend in “key” moments of the games to preserve the Cascades lead. 

Parchment also gives Coach Adam Friesen versatility as he played close to the entire game on Saturday night (38 minutes) at both guard positions.   He also recorded 8 steals, both nights leading UFV, as the Cascades as a team forced their opponents to commit 26 turnovers on the weekend. 

 

“The guys really battled hard tonight to finish off this trip with two key victories, Kevon was amazing leading our team in scoring with 23 points and playing 38 minutes on Saturday ,” said Friesen.
