UFV Cascades sign Carley Radomski, a member of Whitecaps Girls Elite Program

Abbotsford, BC…Rob Giesbrecht, head coach of the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades women’s soccer program, is pleased to announce the signing of Carley Radomski.  Carley comes to UFV from Walnut Grove Secondary in Langley, BC, the same school that has produced the Cascades current midfielder Macki Shopland.

Radomski joins a very talented and young UFV Cascade women’s soccer team that finished the 2012 Canada West regular season with a 6-5-1 record and qualified for the post season.  The midfielder comes to UFV from the Vancouver Whitecaps Girls Elite Program, where she has been a member the past two seasons.  “Carley is a dynamic player that can play at both a defensive or midfield position and excel at both.  She has tremendous short and long range passing ability which will help start attacks as well as keep possession.  An excellent teammate and a player really focussed  on improving and helping her team have success first and foremost.  It is great Carley has chosen a program such as UFV’s that will help her continue to grow as a player and person under Rob’s guidance,” Jesse Symons, Whitecaps Girls Elite Program Director.

No stranger to the Fraser Valley, Radomski has played for Langley FC and Magnusson Ford Mariners FC.  Internationally the Langley native was a member of Canada’s U17 National Team, and attended CONCACAF’s U17 World Cup qualifying tournament in Guatemala, in May 2012.  Carley has also attended several national youth team camps and is a former member of the BC provincial team.

The addition of Radomski to the Cascade line up helps Coach Giesbrecht continue to build a contender for the Canada West title.  Carley joins Shopland, Langley, BC, a former Whitecaps Girls Elite program participant, Carley Neeson, Maple Ridge, BC and Paige Friesen, Abbotsford, BC in giving UFV a formidable offense to compete in Canada’s strongest conference.  “I choose UFV’s soccer team because I felt comfortable with Rob as a coach, and knowing many of the players on the current team, it felt like the perfect fit for me,” said Langley resident.  “As for my soccer career, at UFV, I am hoping to be an impact player who can help contribute to the team’s success next season.”

“We are thrilled that Carley has chosen to come to UFV. Our program is moving in a very positive direction and we are ecstatic to have a student-athlete with Carley’s ability joining our program.  Carley will thrive in the ultra-competitive Canada West conference, her ability to play at an advanced pace and intensity level will allow her to play a pivotal role as our team continues our progression to be an elite Canada West program.  Carley also possesses the character that we look for; she is a committed athlete that is determined to be successful.   She fits in very well to our young, ambitious team and we cannot wait for her to join us,” said Giesbrecht.
