Abbotsford, BC…The University of the Fraser Valley’s Carly Neeson, a third year forward from Maple Ridge, BC has been invited to this weekend’s CIS World University Games tryout, in Victoria, BC.  The Team Canada tryout will take place during the 26th CIS Women’s Soccer national championship tournament being hosted by the University of Victoria, November 8-11, 2012.  The CIS try outs are in preparation for the 27th Summer Universiade in Kazan, Russia, July 6 to 17.  This will be the 8th trip for women’s soccer, who hosted the original FISU sanctioned women’s soccer tournament in July, 1993 at McMaster University, in Hamilton, Ontario.

Neeson, a Criminology major, was the Cascades team leader on the field, named Cascades “Player of the Match” six times in 2012, Carly finished second on the team with four goals, and four assists. Neeson also was responsible for several of the Cascades penalty kicks this season has she was able to orchestrate numerous scoring opportunities that led to infractions in the opposing teams box.

“We are so proud of Carly, she has had a great season and is fully deserving of this invitation to the FISU team try-out. Carly is an assertive attacking player who causes all sorts of problems for our opponents. We are thrilled that she is going to represent UFV Women’s Soccer at the tryout and wish her all the best.  We are looking forward to Carly’s two remaining seasons, our team is loaded with young talent and Carly will be an integral part of our future success,” commented UFV head coach Rob Giesbrecht.
