UFV Cascades announce men’s basketball signing of two recruits
Max Neuman and Rav Dhaliwal agree to study and play for the “Big Green Machine”
Barnaby Craddock, head coach of UFV Cascades men’s basketball program, is pleased to announce the signing of two local recruits Max Neuman, Maple Ridge Secondary and Rav Dhaliwal, Tamanawis Senior Secondary. Both secondary graduates join the defending Canada West silver medalist, who broke ten school records during the 2011-12 campaign.
Neuman, a six foot three inch guard, averaged 21 points per game in his senior year of high school basketball, pulled down seven rebounds per game and averaged four assists.
“I’m very excited to be playing for UFV in the coming years, and I think UFV is the perfect place to help me achieve my full potential,” said the member of the B.C. Basketball Center for Performance. “It’s great to stay home in the Fraser Valley and I hope to help UFV compete for a championship.”
“Max has had a fantastic grade 12 season at Maple Ridge under the outstanding coaching of Ken Dockendorf. It’s a privilege to have such a talented and high quality young man chose to join our UFV Men’s basketball program,” said UFV head coach Barnaby Craddock. “Max excelled this year at the Center of Performance program against the best guards in B.C, and with one of the best work ethics we have seen in a while we have high hopes for him at the University level.
With the graduation of fourth year guard Sheldon Bjorgaard, Abbotsford, BC the Cascades team, at guard, has a big opening.
Dhaliwal, a six foot eight inch post, averaged 15.8 points per game in his senior year while pulling down nine rebounds per game and shooting 48.1 percent from the floor.
“With UFV being a nationally ranked basketball program, I was excited to come here and UFV was my number one option right from the start,” said the member of the B.C, Basketball Centre for Performance. “Attending UFV gives me the opportunity to get a great education, while playing for a top ten program right here in the Fraser Valley.”
“Rav has been an interior presence for the top ranked Tamanawis High school team all season. Surinder Grewal does a great job with all the student-athletes at Tamanawis, so It’s great to get a recruit from their program,” said Craddock. “Rav has been a key member of the Basketball BC program, which is a huge plus for his development. Rav is the complete student-athlete; a great student, great athlete and an outstanding young man, he is a fantastic addition to our program.”
Neuman will be enrolling in UFV’s Bachelor of Arts program and Dhaliwal will be studying Business at UFV.

The UFV Cascades men’s basketball program are the defending Canada West silver medalists and ranked 4th in the final CIS top ten poll. UFV participated in the CIS “Final 8” national championship tournament in Halifax, Nova Scotia, finishing fourth in Canada.
