UFV Cascades volleyball teams split matches at CBC

Women win 3-1, Men fall 3-2

The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades women’s volleyball team continue to prep for the upcoming PACWEST playoffs with a 3-1 victory over cross town rival CBC Bearcats, at their Clearbrook Road gymnasium. The Cascades, nationally ranked 4th in the CCAA top ten poll, improve to 19-4, with tonight’s match the final regular season contest before the PACWEST post season tournament, at Douglas College, the weekend of February 23-26. The Cascades will be gunning for an impressive 20 win regular season tonight.

Set Scores: UFV-CBC 25-22, 26-24, 19-25, 25-22

The UFV Cascades men’s volleyball team fell to arch rival CBC, 3-2, in a very exciting nail biting match. Like the second match back in October, the Cascades fell behind two sets to none before roaring back winning the third set by two points and forcing the fifth and decisive set to an extra point. The loss leaves UFV in a three way tie for fifth through seventh place with Camosun College 7-15 and COTR 7-17. The Cascades go into tonight’s final regular season match at 7-16. There are numerous tie breakers which will be determined after this weekend’s matches are played. The top six teams earn a berth in the PACWEAST post season tournament.

Set Scores: UFV-CBC 13-25, 20-25, 26-24, 25-20, 14-16
