The UFV Cascades men’s basketball team were defeated by the Saskatchewan Huskies, 104-95 in overtime and on Saturday, UFV fell short in Edmonton, as the Alberta Golden Bears defeated the Cascades, 79-57. The Cascades Canada West conference record stands at 5-3 at the break.

On Friday, UFV was led by Joel Friesen, Abbotsford, BC with 29 points. Kyle Grewal, Surrey, BC added 20 points and Sam Freeman, Coquitlam, BC 16 points. Jasper Moedt, Abbotsford, BC pulled down a team leading 10 rebounds.

“To many defensive lapses gave a good team a chance to come back on us tonight.. And they did. I was impressed with how the guys played tonight on the road and versus a good team. We didn’t the job done in the end, but we will take a valuable lesson of knowing where we stand with the top teams in the country. Hopefully we will have a chance to meet up again in the post season,” said UFV Head Coach Barnaby Craddock.

Saturday, The Cascades were led by Friesen with 13 points. Grewal and Freeman each added 12 points in the loss to Alberta. Friesen puled down a team leading 11 boards.
