The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades women’s volleyball team swept the CBC Bearcats over the weekend, to improve their PACWest leading record to a perfect 4-0. “In the first set it was a battle and one of the battles was against ourselves! It was a comedy of watching the ball land on our side without playing it. As we moved into the second and third sets, we were able to control the play increasingly,” said Head Coach Dennis Bokenfohr.
“The clinching moment happened about half way through the third set when second year Kierra Noot made two diving digs to continue the play and eventually earned the point. It was this effort that rallied the girls to finish off the set and game. Tonight was a complete team performance. The attack was balanced, defense was consistent and blocks came from all positions,” said Bokenfohr on Friday night’s victory over CBC.
On Friday, Krista Hogewoning, Delta, BC had a very strong performance where she amassed 10 kills and a 63% hitting percentage, 3 blocks and 5 digs.
“Tonight was a complete team effort with everyone factoring in on the win! We came out tonight wanting to put up a solid block. This resulted in not only a strong blocking performance, but also a strong digging performance,” said Bokenfohr on Saturday night’s victory.
Kayla Bruce, Surrey, BC was dominant with 11 kills, a 60% hitting percentage on Saturday night.
