Collett & Hogewoning UFV Cascades/Abbotsford Heat Athletes of the Week, week ending October 16th

Dillon Collett, a third year setter, from Cloverdale, BC led the UFV Cascades men’s volleyball team to an opening victory over the Douglas College Royals, 3-1, in New Westminster, BC. Dillon led the Cascades with 13 digs in the victory. Collett added 8 more team leading digs in Saturday’s 3-0 loss to Douglas.

“Dillon performed as well or better than he ever has since coming to UFV in our win over Douglas College this weekend. He was a huge factor defensively and offensively in both matches,” said UFV Head Coach Greg Russell.

Krista Hogewoning, a first year setter from Delta, BC led the UFV Cascades women’s volleyball team to a two game sweep over Douglas College Royals to open the 2011-12 PACWest regular season.

On Friday, Krista led the Cascades with 16 kills and added 11 digs, on Saturday, she recorded 8 digs and 6 kills for the First Place Cascades.

“She played very consistent this weekend. She led the team with kills and total offense, had timely attacks that really relaxed our entire offense. Her service game was very strong as well as she consistently put Douglas in trouble on top of her several aces,” said Head Coach Dennis Bokenfohr.
