Cascades sweep Douglas College, win first two PACWest matches of season

The University of the Fraser valley Cascades defeated Douglass College Royals, 3-0, to improve their PACWest regular season record to 2-0. The match was played in new Westminster, BC.

Cascades: 3-0 (25-19. 25-19. 25-21)
The Cascades dominated their second PACWest match of the regular season, winning in three straight. Brittany Stewart, Walnut Grove, BC led the Cascades with 19 digs. Kierra Noot, Surrey, BC added 5 blocks in the victory over Douglas. Jenna Evans, Abbotsford, BC led UFV with 13 kills, a 40% hitting efficiency 1 ace and 1 block.

“Tonight the ladies had an increased focus on defense and kept a lot of balls from hitting the floor. This was highlighted by 19 digs for 4th year Brittany Stewart and 5 blocks for Kierra Noot. We did a lot better job in transition tonight and finishing the play,” said Head Coach Dennis Bokenfohr.

“We now move forward and start preparing for our home opener against CBC. 1st home games are always exciting and we will definitely be looking forward to playing our cross town rivals and the battle of Abbotsford.”
