Cascades defeat COTR Avalanche, 3-0, remain perfect at 6-0 in PACWest

The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades women’s volleyball team defeated the College of the Rockies Avalanche, 3-0, to remain undefeated in PACWest regular season play at 6-0. The match was played at the Envision Athletic Centre. The sets were 25-13, 25-18 and 25-17.

“Tonight was a solid team effort on both sides of the ball. From start to finish the ladies stuck to the game plan with a solid block to defend around and have an aggressive transition game to go after kills. Every player made an impact in the game, performing our complete team ability,” said Head Coach Dennis Bokenfohr.

“It’s been a fabulous start to our season with a 6-0 record. It’s going to be exciting to see how we match up against VIU this coming weekend, who took second at nationals last year. I feel that this is one of the strongest teams UFV has had in terms of women’s volleyball; we have incredible depth with each person bringing a different element to the game. I believe whole heartedly we can keep our undefeated record intact,” said team captain Brittany Stewart, Walnut Grove, BC.

Kayla Bruce, Surrey BC recorded 6 aces, 6 kills, 2 blocks. Kierra Noot, Surrey, BC, in 2 sets of play, added 7 blocks, 3 kills and Jenna Evans, Abbotsford, BC in 1 set of play, recorded 4 kills, 3 aces, 6 digs.
