The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades women’s soccer team tied the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns, 1-1, in Lethbridge, Alberta. The Cascades Canada West record sits at 2-2-2 for 8 points, good for 7th place in the conference standings, two points out of a post season berth.
Coming off their tie in Calgary on Saturday, the Cascades looked to get back on the winning side of a Canada West match. The Pronghorns had other ideas as they challenged the defending Canada West champions from the opening whistle. The Pronghorns scored the game’s first goal at the 28th minute and went into the intermission up by that one goal.
In the second half UFV came alive and rookie Shelby Beck, Langley, BC set up Ellen Kuyer, Surrey, BC with the Cascades tying goal midway through the second half. The remainder of the match was dominated by the two goalkeepers Lethbridge’s Taura Willoughby and UFV’s Chantelle Biagioni,. Pitt Meadows, BC who kept their teams in the game.
