Cascades fall in 87th minute suffer fourth straight loss
The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades men’s soccer team were defeated by the University of Calgary Dinos, 1-0, on a goal in the 87th minute of play. The loss was UFV’s fourth straight and drops their Canada West regular season record to 1-4-0 for 3 points.
The Cascades played a strong game and had numerous opportunities to score during the match. The young defense continues to improve each match. UFV’s Sasa Plavsic, Coquitlam, BC had the best chance, of the match, to score in the second half, only to miss on the scoring opportunity and have the shot blocked. He also had the best shot of the game when he turned his marker and hit a hard shot into the top left hand corner of the goal, only to see the Calgary’s goalkeeper turn it around the post.
The Cascades would lose the match in the 87th minute when the Dinos’ Ben Cole would score the lone goal of the day.
“We dominated the game and it is more than frustrating to see us lose all three points when we created enough chances to win the game comfortably,” said Head Coach Alan Errington.
