Cascades Basketball fall 105-50 to Texas-Arlington
The University of the Fraser Valley fell tonight to the University of Texas (Arlington), 105-50, at the Envision Athlertic Centre, in their first of three presaeason exhibition games against NCAA opponents.
Texas-Arlington jumped out to an early double digit lead and led by 11 points after the first quarter. The Cascades scored 25 points in the second quarter but found themselves down by 18 at the intermission. The second half saw Texas-Arlington play great defense holding UFV to 15 total points on route to their 55 point victory over the Cascades.
Jasper Modet, Abbotsford, BC led all Cascades with 14 points and 10 total rebounds. Sam Freeman, Coquitlam, BC added 10 points and 3 steals in the loss to Texas-Arlington. LaMarcus Reed, Dallas, Texas led all Texas-Arlington players with a game high 20 point performance.

SHENZHEN, China (CIS) – They had dominated teams in the second half throughout the 26th Summer Universiade, but on Monday night, on the biggest stage, Canada’s dreams of gold faded away over the final 20 minutes, as Serbia prevailed 68-55 to claim their second straight FISU men’s basketball championship.
Congratulations to the UFV Cascades men’s basketball coach Barnaby Craddock, who was an assistant coach, on the 2011 CIS men’s basketball team, that earned a FISU World University Games Silver Medal.
