Saskatchewan Huskies defeat UFV Cascades, 88-59, in Canada West Semi-Final.

The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades were defeated by the University of Saskatchewan Huskies, 88-59, in the Canada West Semi-Final game, played in Saskatoon last night.  The Cascades will now face the University of Alberta Pandas, in the Canada West Bronze Medal game, today.  Alberta lost to the University of Regina Cougars, 72-68, in the other Canada West semi-final.

 

The Cascades fell behind early as the home team Huskies established a quick double digit lead and never looked back as they held UFV to 12 points in the first quarter and 10 in the final quarter.  The Cascades participating in their first ever Canada West “Final Four” played well in the second quarter scioring 20 points.

 

Alyssa Gaukel, Chilliwack, BC led all Cascades with a 17 point performance.  Tessa Klassen, Winnipeg, Manitoba added 12 points in the loss to the Huskies.   Sarah Wierks, Chilliwack led the Cascades with 10 total rebounds.
