Four UFV Cascades named BCCAA Men’s and Women’s Volleyball All-Stars

Four members of the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades men’s and women’s volleyball teams have been named to the 2011 BCCAA All-Star squads.

 

Women’s Volleyball team:

 

WV_005 Kayla Bruce

Year @ UFV:  3
Position:  M

Hometown:  Surrey, BC

 

 

 

Kayla was named to the 2011 BCCAA First all-star team.  She led the BCCAA in Aces with 36 for an average of 0.73.  Kayla was also the “Total Offensive Statistic” champion with an average of 4.27 (on her blocks, aces and kills).  The Surrey native helped the UFV Cascade4s to an 8-6 regular season record and the 4th seed in this weekend’s BCCAA Championship tournament.

 

WV_013 Brittany Stewart

Year @ UFV:  3

Position:  L

Hometown:  Langley, BC

 

 

 

The captain of the UFV Cascades was selected to the 2011 BCCAA second all-star team.  The Langley native was third in the BCCAA in digs with 214 for a 4.65 average.  Brittany’s leadership guided a very young team to the post season tournament.

 

WV_012 Denise Joy Francisco

Year @ UFV:  1

Position:  S

Hometown:  Surrey,BC

 

 

 

Denise was named to the 2011 BCCAA All-Rookie women’s volleyball team.  The Surrey native finished in the top 15 in aces with 9 for an 0,33 average in her rookie season.  Denise was one of seven rookies on the playoff bound Cascade team showing the future is very bright for the women’s volleyball program.

MV_014 Aaron Flanagan
Tear @ UFV:  4Position:  RS

Hometown:  Langley, BC

 

 

 

Aaron was named to the 2011 BCCAA second all-star team.  The Langley, BC native was the team leader on the court as UFV earned a post season berth with a  5-9 record good for 6th place in the standings.   Aaron finished 6th in total offense with a 3.89 average per game on his blocks, digs and kills.
