UBC Thunderbirds defeat UFV Cascades, 84-68, in Vancouver, BC

The University of British Columbia Thunderbirds defeated the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades, 84-68, in Canada West regular season action tonight in Vancouver, BC.  Both teams will go right back at it tomorrow night in Vancouver.  The Cascades regular season record falls to 2-5.

UFV  came out strong and out scored the Thunderbirds, 19-16 after the first quarter.  The second quarter saw UBC come to life winning the second stanza by 10-points to go into the locker room, at halftime with a 7-point advantage. The Cascades were led by Joel Friesen, Abbotsford, BC with 16-first half points.
The second half started with UFV battling UBC and keeping the deficit at 7-points, the Cascades had several runs in the quarter but were only able to shave one point off the lead.  In the final quarter, UBC would out score the Cascades by 10-points to go onto win their 7th league game of the season.
Friesen would finish with 21-points to lead all Cascade players.  Sam Freeman, Coquitlam, BC would add 16-points and Zeon Gray, Los Angeles, CA chipped in with 10-points.  James Elliott, Perth, West Australia would pull down 7-rebounds to lead all Cascades.
