Neeson, Women’s Soccer and Jansen, Men’s Volleyball UFV Cascades/Abbotsford Heat Athletes of the Week, week ending Sunday, October 31, 2010.

Carly Neeson, a first year general studies major, from Maple Ridge, BC scored twice on the weekend, in the Cascades’ victories over Calgary, 3-1 and Lethbridge, 3-0, giving the rookie 5 goals in her first Canada West campaign.

Neeson was instrumental in helping UFV earn their first ever CW post season berth as she set up the winning goal in the Calgary match by driving to the net in the second half and being taken down for Megan Webster’s eventual game winning goal on a penalty kick.

Justin Jansen, a second year Business Administration major, from Surrey, BC led the Cascades to a 3-1 victory over UBC-O with 18 kills, 7 digs and 3 aces.  Justin passed for a 2.9 average out of a possible 3.0.  The Cascades are 1-0 in first Place in the BCCAA men’s volleyball conference.
