“Coming of Sasq ‘ets”

The University of the Fraser Valley S’olh Shxwleli (Aboriginal Access Services) and Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the unveiling of the new Cascade Mascot, Sasq ‘ets, on Saturday, October 30th, in day long celebration that includes the Cascades men’s and women’s basketball programs hosting Canada West regular season games against the University of Manitoba Bisons. The celebration will be held at the Envision Athletic Centre on the Abbotsford campus of UFV.
The ceremony will commence at 3:00PM with a traditional First Nation introduction and celebration of the history of the Sasquatch and the “official” naming of UFV’s mascot Sasq ‘ets.  Following the hour an half ceremony will be the Bisons-Cascades basketball doubleheader.Tickets for the October 30th celebration and Canada West basketball doubleheader go on sale Monday, October 25th, 2010 at the Student Activity Center desk, located in the lobby of the Athletic Envision Centre. The tickets will be on sale from Monday to Friday (October 25-29) from 7AM until 10PM, 8PM on Friday.  The cost of tickets for the day are $9 for adults, $6 for UFV Alumni, $2 for non-UFV students and all UFV students wanting to attend are free.  On Saturday, October 30th the remaining tickets will be sold one hour prior to the start of the ceremony at 2:00PM.
