The Women’s Rowing team finished 10th in Canada, at the Canadian University Rowing Championship (CURC). The team earned 35 team points. The men’s team finished tied for 10th place, with McMaster University (OUA), both teams earned 17-team points.
The highlights fror thev UFV Cascades were Courtenay Landsiedel, Abbotsford, BC making it into the A final, placing 6th overall with a time of 8:07.10. In addition the Women’s pair, (Ciana Morrison, Langley, BC and Landsiedel) finishing second in the B Final, 8th overall.
On the men’s side the pair of Scott Micona, Abbotsford, BC and Bryan Siemens, Abbotsford, BC finished first in the B Final, 7th overall. Spencer Landsiedel, Abbotsford, BC finished first in the men’s single event, in the B Final, 7th overall.
“I am very proud of this team. They were able to overcome late injuries to key rowers, and step up to the plate, ” said UFV Head Coach Liz Chisholm.
“Our experienced varsity group led our 2nd years with encouraging, but intense leadership that had them rowing with determination. We kept everyone of our placings, from the time trials (seeding), and gained a couple of spots with the Open Men’s Pair and Open Mens 1x – two very exciting races.”
