The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades were defeated by Douglas College Royals, 3-0, in BCCAA regular season action. The Cascades record falls to 2-3 in league play. The Cascades played a very entertaining first set losing a nail bitter 23-25. The Royals seemed to be come alive and never let UFV back into the match holding them to 18 and 14 points in the final two sets.
“We needed to finish the first set, we (UFV) played well throughout it but couldn’t get the job done in the end,” said UFV Head Coach Greg Russell. “We started the second set really well, but couldn’t continue to keep the pressure on.”
The Cascades Justin Jansen, Surrey, BC recorded 9 kills, 6 digs and 2 aces in the match, while teammate Alec Dumerton, Abbotsford, BC added 8 digs.
