The UFV Cascades are currently on a three game non-conference exhibition tour through “Wine Country” in Southern Ontario. The Cascades fell to the University of Guelph Gryphons (OUA West), 76-73 tonight in Guelph.
The Cascades came out strong and led by 8-points after the first quarter, 22-14. The Gryphons made a run in the second quarter, but UFV held onto the lead by 2-points, 44-42 at the half. “We had double digit leads a couple times, in the first half, but could not hold them off,” said UFV Head Coach Barnaby Craddock.
In the second half Guelph held UFV to 29 total points as they were able to out scored UFV by 5-points to win the exhibition game. The Cascades non-conference exhibition record falls to 5-1 on the season.
The Cascades were led by Joel Friesen, Abbotsford with 17-points. Other Cascades contributing in double figures were Zeon Gray, Los Angeles, CA with 14, James Elliott, Perth, Western Australia with 11-points and Josh Kufske, Abbotsford, BC with 10-points.
Kufske and Elliott each pulled down 6-boards as UFV registered 28 rebounds for the game.
