UFV Cascades tie Trinity Lutheran College Eagles, 2-2, at Bateman Park.

The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades (CWUAA-CIS) tied Trinity Lutheran College Eagles (NCAA West Region), 2-2, in an exhibition non-conference match at Bateman Park, in Abbotsford, BC.  The Cascades came out strong and moved the ball around the park controlling the midfield in the first ten minutes, before the Eagles starting to get their legs from the trip to Abbotsford from Everett, Washington.  The Eagles started to pressure the UFV defense and goalkeeper Ryan Ladbrook, Langley, BC and their persistence paid off 20 minutes into the first half as Eduardo Alves, Divinopolis, Brazil opened the scoring as he finished a pass from Sergio Carrillo, Tucson, AZ.  The Eagles led by the one goal at the half.

In the second half, the Eagles continued to pressure UFV and doubled their lead as Manix Alvarez, Mt Terrace, WA scored off a Alan Sanchez, Yuma, Az pass.  The two goal deficit brought the home team back to life as UFV controlled the remainder of the match scoring twice on goals by Jordan Marini, Port Coquitlam, BC at the 71st minute and then again one minute later by Craig Robinson, Chilliwack, BC to tie the match with 19 minutes to play.  The Cascades continued to pressure and the referee awarded UFV a penalty shot in the 80th minute, only to see the Marini shot hit the TLC goalkeeper Brent Gonzales, Upland, CA and then on the rebound hit the keeper a second time.
The match ended tied at two goals each.  UFV returns to CWUAA-CIS regular season play when they visit the BC Provincial Capital to take on the University of Victoria Vikes, on Sunday, October 3rd.
