Cascades fall to Regina, 2-0, in CWUAA opener in Regina, Saskatchewan.

The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades women’s soccer team fell to the University of Regina Cougars, 2-0, in their CWUAA regular season opener, in Regina, Saskatchewan.

The Cascades came out strong tested the Regina defense.  UFV kept pressure on their hosts for a good portion of the first half, the Cascades only problem on the afternoon was Regina’s Adrianna Bonutti who scored twice on the Cascades in the 14th minute and the 81st minute to give the home side an opening day victory.

“Its a hard result to take because there were so many positives from today'” said Head Coach Rob Giesbrecht.  “We created numerous scoring chances and our defense played extremely well.”  The Cascades Megan Webster, a fourth year midfielder from Abbotsford, BC was outstanding in the middle of the park and Lyndsay Munro, a fifth year defender from Maple Ridge, BC was again solid in the back.

“Its important the team pick ourselves up and show our character by performing well tomorrow against the Bisons, in Manitoba,” said Giesbrecht.
