UFV Cascades sweep their two games at the TRU Women’s Soccer tournament in Kamloops.

The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades defeated the Thompson Rivers University Wolfpack, 1-0, to sweep their two games at the TRU Women’s Soccer tournament, held in Kamloops, BC.  The Cascades non-conference exhibition record improves to 3-1-0.

The Cascades came out strong and dominate a good part of the first half but were unable to score a goal in the first half.  “We had numerous opportunities to open the scoring but had to settle for a scoreless half,” said UFV Head Coach Rob Giesbrecht.
In the second half, UFV continued to put pressure on the Wolfpack defense and at the 76th minute on a scramble in front of the TRU net rookie midfielder Danielle de Bruin, Victoria, BC scored the game’s lone goal to give UFV the victory and perfect two game sweep at the 2010 TRU Women’s Soccer tournament.
Chantelle Biagioni, Pitt Meadows, BC earned the victory/shutout in the Cascades net.
“I am very proud of our team, we continued to work hard and persevere despite being frustrated in front of the TRU net,” said Giesbrecht.  “They never stopped and finally were rewarded with the winning goal late in the match.”
