Texas Tech Lady Raiders (Big 12-NCAA) defeated the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades (CWUAA-CIS), 78-41, in an exhibition game at the Envision Athletic Centre. The young Cascades team played well in the first half as they competed with the more experienced NCAA Division One program from Texas. The Cascades led midway through the first quarter 10-9 and stayed close to the Lady Raiders until a late run by Texas Tech in the second quarter opened up a 34-21 halftime lead.

In the second half the Lady Raiders held UFV to 20 points as they showed why they will compete for the Big 12 Conference title this coming school year. “We held our own in the first half and played well,” said UFV Cascades Head Coach Al Tuchscherer. “Our team has depth and we proved that we will compete this year in CWUAA.”
The Cascades were led by Tessa Hart, Mission, BC and Lauren Rieu, Port Coquitlam, BC each with a team high 9-point performance. Sarah Wierks, Chilliwack, BC led all Cascades with 4-total rebounds. Antiesha Brown, Clovis, New Mexico led the Lady Raiders with a game high 16-points. Kierra Mallard, Dallas, Texas led the team with 5-total rebounds as Texas Tech out rebounded UFV 36 to 34 for the game.
