FREDRICTON, NEW BRUNSWICK- University of the Fraser Valley men’s golf team has again proved they are among the best in the country. After three solid rounds at Kingston Park, UFV finished fourth against an impressive field.
The boys headed into the fourth and final day with momentum to increase their position on the leaderboard. However due to rain, the last day of the tournement was canceled.
“It’s unfortunate we weren’t able to get in the final round,” commented head coach Chris Bertram. “Our guys were playing well, and we were in a good position to make a run at the national title. In the bigger picture though, it is some consolation to prove once again that we are one of the elite programs in Canada.”
UFV was 24 shots better than the University of Toronto, and 54 shots better than the University of Calgary. With rookie Aaron Pauls shooting the lowest score of the team for the three rounds.
“It’s nice to do well personally, but the team accomplishments are what we are out here playing for,” said Pauls. “It was within our grasp this year, and I know we are going to be back stronger next time around.”
