VICTORIA, BC- After a fantastic tournament, the University of the Fraser Valley Men’s Volleyball team fell just short of gold as the Camosun College Chargers edged them in three incredibly close sets.
With home court advantage and the crowd behind them, the Chargers were able to repeat last year’s result as they managed to top the Cascades 3-0. (25-23, 25-20, 25-23) It wasn’t an easy road for Camosun College as UFV battled hard and executed in sound form, trading points back and forth throughout every set. However, with the Chargers momentum gained after beating the #1 seeded UBCO Friday night, the Cascades were unable to tame the play of the home side.
“It was a tough loss. Each set was very close and we had our opportunities to win,” commented UFV Head Coach Greg Russell. “It just wasn’t our night.”
The BCCAA Provincial Championship gold medal Player’s of the Match were fifth-year setter Daryl Wiebe from UFV and fifth-year left side Brent Hall from Camosun College.
