Cascades Overpower Bearcats

VICTORIA, BC- The University of the Fraser Valley Women’s Volleyball team downed the CBC Bearcats this afternoon with an impressive 3-1 victory in the first match of the BCCAA Provincial Volleyball Championships hosted by Camosun College.

The Cascades dominated the first set, jumping to a 1-0 lead with a convincing 25-16 win. The second game proved to be a bit more challenging, as the Bearcats got the ball rolling with a 25-20 decision to even the games at one a piece.

The final two games were both decided by just two points. The Cascades battled their way to victory in the third set 27-25, and finished off the Bearcats in the fourth 25-23.

“Tonight’s win was a great team win.” Noted Head Coach Dennis Bokenfohr. “We knew that coming in CBC was going to play us very tough and we had to play good defense.”

The Cascades Player of the Match went to 5th year Erin Burns who posted 15 kills, 12 digs, 2 blocks and 2 aces.

The road continues as the Cascades face the #1 seeded UBC-Okanagan Heat Friday, February 26 at 6pm.
