Cascades sweep Capilano, run winning streak to nine games

The winning streak continues for the University of the Fraser Valley.

Since dropping their first three matches of the season, the Cascades men’s volleyball team has reeled off nine-straight British Columbia Colleges’ Athletic Conference (BCCAA) victories.

After running their lengthy streak to eight matches Friday with an exciting 3-2 victory over Capilano, the Cascades followed up with a four-set victory over the host Blues Saturday.

Game scores were 18-25, 25-21, 28-26, 25-16

The Cascades improved to 9-3 with the victory, while the Blues fell to 4-10.

The win allowed the Cascades to move into third place in the standings, four points behind second place Vancouver Island University and holding a game in hand on the Mariners.

A top-two placing after the regular season would give the Cascades a bye into the provincial semifinals.

UFV will host Selkirk Feb. 5-6 at Envision Athletic Centre.
