ABBOTSFORD, BC — It didn’t come easy, but the winning ways continue for the University of the Fraser Valley. The Cascades were pushed to the limit by Camosun, but pushed back to record the victory.

The Cascades, who lost their first three matches, won their seventh-straight Sunday with a come-from-behind five-set victory over Camosun College in British Columbia Colleges’ Athletic Conference (BCCAA) action at Envision Athletic Centre in Abbotsford.

The Cascades improved to 7-3 with the victory, while the Chargers fell to 6-7.

The win allowed the Cascades to move into third place in the standings, four points behind second place Vancouver Island University and holding a game in hand on the Mariners.

A top-two placing after the regular season would give the Cascades a bye into the provincial semifinals.

Fraser valley took a 25-20 win in the opening game.

They had the chance to finish off the Chargers in the second game, but couldn’t get the winning point up 25-24. Camosun took the next three points and came away with a 27-25 win.

The Chargers had the Cascades on the ropes after winning the third game 25-22. It appeared the Cascades six game winning streak would be in jeopardy.

But Fraser Valley players came back with a vengeance in the fourth game, and easily took the set 25-11.

The Cascades got the early lead in the fifth and deciding set, and came away with a 15-10 victory to keep their winning streak intact.

The Cascades, winners of seven in a row, are at Capilano College Jan. 29-30, and will host Selkirk Feb. 5-6.
